i have a psn ID we have an x360 but i dont have a live ID

psn id is added to the 2009 list

PS3 is pricey but I believe that it has come down in price recently, I have heard a few bad stories about the xboxes history and am not a fan of micro$oft ( although I have to use that environment as a developer).

I have owned playstations since the first one ( and only recently purchased a psp) and have not had too many problems with them.

I bought a PS3 midyear last year for several reasons:

!. Can play blueray dvd's
1a Can play older games on the PS3 ie ps1,2.
2. I had a voucher for a few hundred dollars that knocked the price down a bit

3. You can install another system like linux ( a big plus for me) on the PS3 ( try that with xbox ).
4. Can record from the PS3 to my pc.

People may say games are better on the xbox than PS3 but it depends on what platform the game was developed for first.
I was told Bayonetta had frame drops on the ps3 ( rubbish I have not had any but maybe I have a super ps3

), but then Darsiders is better on the ps3 than xbox as there is no tearing so I have heard.

It really comes down to your choice, I own pc's and would rather play fps and some rpgs and mmo's on a pc than a console, but other games are better on a console than a pc.

Wii don't get me started on that topic.

Sorry but I have to jump in to clarify a few points.

1a. The new slim does not allow you to play PS2 games from disk.

Older games redeveloped to play on the PS3 and made available on disk or through PSN by downloadable content will play.

3. This was only available on the bigger machines and is not supported on the Slim.

4. I'm not sure about as I don't do it so someone else might have to comment on this if it's true or not. Are we talking about PlayTV?

The slim is not backward compatible. Did you buy a second hand 60gb PS3 mate?

Only the Play TV for Australia was nerfed. I know in the UK, they can move their TV recordings to the XMB and then on to external storage.

nah, you can directly record game play from the xbox to pc as well. just get a capture card and cord. a decent capture card with minimal data loss is only about $100-$200

and it records directly from the tv to the pc! none of that copywrite or legalities bs =]
