120gb large enough for PlayTV?
We're buying a PS3 soon mostly for PlayTV and Bluray (plus a few games) but not sure what size HDD to get. Is 120gb enough or should we swing for the 250gb model?
Does PlayTV use heaps of gigs? |
I think it uses roughly 1gb per hour average but depends on quality. Some recordings are closer to 2gb per hour.
The PS3 uses a standard 2.5" notebook hard drive which can be replaced easily, and without voiding the warranty (there's even instructions on how to do it in the manual). So the best option is to buy the cheaper 120gb model then use the money saved to buy a 500gb+ hard drive and put that in yourself. That way you'll never have to worry about running out of space :) |
SD approx 1.5 - 2gb per hour
HD approx 2.9 - 3.75gb per hour Depends on the bitrate used by the tv station. |
Thanks for the replies, I bought the 120gb model and will chuck another drive in when/if I need to.
