Breezy
Default PS3 Slim wifi and fan still on

I noticed some time ago my son's PS3 appears to be shut down but you can hear fan noise and the wifi green light is still illuminated on the console.

From the main menu if you tell the console to shut down it enters this state.

If you pull the power cord and re-attach then the light & fan noise remain off.

It gives me the impression the PS3 is sitting in some sort of idle mode or suspended in a low power mode waiting to activate.

Either this or their is a program which runs after shut down.
Could this be folding at home?

If anyone has an idea please post as he is currently away and I would like to disable what ever is activated on this console. I don't need the power consumption and the added worry his machine will wear out early as a result of running all the time concerns me.

Mine does this, so it can be turned on via remote play.

Go to remote play settings and see if "Remote start" is on.

That was it. Have switched it to of. Will see if he notices.

He has his Sony Vaio and Sony Aino mobile phone listed as devices for remote control.

He's such a Sony fan boy.
