nah I can't connect either minecraft.net appears to be having issues from some ISPs or something

Ok.. here is what is apparently happening.

There is a router 2 jumps out from minecraft.net that is blocking all SMP connections that try and pass through it.

ALSO

If you fail in a login to minecraft, as part of its anti DDOS protection, you'll get blocked from the minecraft.net server for a min or two. so even though the website is up, it appears down to you.

At least that is the current throry - No ETA on a fix.

ipconfig /flushdns worked for me.
IP of minecraft auth server changed I think
