Ok, I've done some work, and have made an auto booster, so you can hop in a stopped cart, and then a booster comes along and away you go. I do need to do some work on the stopping end, and cart recycling.

I have paced out a safe cart ride distance along my long road, and its about 110 blocks, so not very far. though, tbh, I don't know if that is as far as you can go safely.

I guess more investigation needed

I've tried this today, it's really cool but also pretty glitchy. Most boosters need to be longer, specifically those in inclines. If the machine lags at the wrong moment you won't get all the way up and ends up stuck somewhere at the bottom.

Edit: I tried to make some minor adjustments to it, but that didn't seem to help too much.

Who needs warping, when you have a mass transit system?

it appears that the successful operation of the carts is dependant on server load. My track at outpost ran fine, then more came on the server, and it would no longer run indefinitely.

This could pose problems for a reliable system.

The bridge design is currently a simple png, but if there's interest I'll make it into an xcf (gimp) with layers for the different sections and a front/side/top exploded view. You can use it to help design a sample rail system.

Isnt this Minecraft all over? Cool, but glitchy

Most times I fly out of the inclines... but yeah its not 100% fool proof!

I hope not. As it is, /warp makes the world feel a lot smaller than it is. I think once the nether becomes available in MP, we should disable /warp, /tp, and /tphere. Where's the fun in having a massive world if you can just zip to anywhere you want?
