Yet to be decided, but debated quite a lot in another couple of threads here and in the TOG member sub-forum if memory serves. We'll need to see what is / isn't working at the time and then decide upon the approach to take as the whole mobs / damage / warps discussions seem to merge.

But let's not derail the original thread topic.

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Back on topic, I think the stations would need to be underground, as they take up a bit of space, both horizontally and vertically. You could have a departures and arrival doors that lead down to those areas.

I know this is a bit late, but are you still accepting tenders for your rail system? I've had a quick chat with Danger Mouse, and I think we'd like to put our hand up.

Name: yet to be decided... Tentitivley Danger Nam
Experience: as much as anyone else!
Price: we'll argue over that half way through the project... Is that what contractors do?
Vission: to produce the most over budget, Ill performing system known to mankind.... a working rail system.

I am of the complete opposite view. Where's the fun in just seeing your own little bit of the world? If it wasn't for warps I would not have seen anyone's creations, and I'm yet to see all that much anyway. Knowing which direction to travel to see a particular spot is difficult.

If all methods of quick movement were removed I would either never leave my area, or stop playing.

Yay!

Your rail system will be ready by 2017, and cost about $27 billion. Hope your ok with that?

A quick search says the chunk distance is 200 blocks, sounds about right. I think we should build for full crossing, and just do a temp mod at the mid point to cope with current bug until it's fixed.

I was thinking of a suspended rail under the bridge to reduce the visual impact.

As for going over the arch, I think it would have a massive impact, unless we could fit inside the arch itself. I am very impressed with the look of the bridge and I wouldn't want to spoil it with a train badly implemented train syste

Fair enough, but in that case I don't see the point in making a rail system at all, other than the challenge.

Underground might be best anyway for survival, as creepers could easily wreak havoc on the tracks above ground.

We could build an overground monorail type track. With sufficient lighting no mobs will spawn on it and with sufficient height they can't jump up on it.

But this immediately dismissed that misconception.

I don't have a problem running in the slots alongside the roadway if we can. We may be able to fit boosters between some of the pylons. This is a working bridge, not a piece of art, so we don't need to be too precious about it. That being said, some of the lines have worked out really well (thanks samah!), so its a matter of integrating, but not overtaking. Happy to leave it up to the vision of the builders if required.
