Hm... if more than one person has died from using /home I don't think I'll use mine

Then again it's possible it can be safely done by first placing a dirt block where you want your home, set the home when standing on it, and then remove the block again. That way you're always at least 1 brick above the floor when using /home in case it's some sort of clipping error that makes you fall through.

Then again if it's lag related then a single block won't help much, I could fall through the whole damn map in one of my lags

We have a copy of all the \home settings before we moved to Bukkit. If you can't find your home, I can tell you the location of your home and provide you temporarily with means to find it.

I think for survival, the minimap thing should be introduced - and I don't believe it is against the "spirit" of the server - any one can make a map and mark points on that map.

Creative? - anything goes.

*Spoiler Warning*

A map of the survival server has been produced - a link to it appears in the State of the Server sticky for those interested. It can be manually updated periodically. The zoom levels in future may be reduced to make it more of a guide and to speed up the time it takes to generate.

Minimap:
Just to clarify, as some have been unsure, we've no issue if individual players run the client side minimap mod on either the creative or survival server.
