Default Bukkit mod - how to update?

Hi all,

Some might know, but my lad has a server he and his friends play on, and it is currently using bukkit mod.

I'm just wondering - is there a guide anywhere on how to upgrade?
(being that I am no techy)
They have quite a large and complex world into which they have placed a lot of effort, so I don't want them too loose it if I click the wrong thing during an upgrade.

Appreciate any help,

Cheers,

Bukkit now has a set of recommended builds. All the mod developers are supposed to update their mods/plugins asap to the latest Bukkit RB. The problem we have for the tog servers is that they don't. If the mods aren't updated, then the chances are they won't work and may freeze or crash the server (or stop other mods working).

Some links to help you
Hope that helps.

Thanks Sor - though what I meant is that I dont understand where the boys world is...
So if I get the latest version of Bukkit that works with 1.4 - what do I back up and then restore to ensure his world is still there?

Speaking for Linux here... I hope it is the same for Windows
the folder which holds the server jarfile (craftbukkit for bukkit) also holds the server.properties file. This includes various settings and one of them is the world's name (level-name). The default name is "world". In the same folder should be a folder with the same name as the world. This is the data about the world chunks and the players. This is the crucial data, but the other crucial data to backup is normally the white-list.txt, any other txt or properties or db files and the entire plugins folder. While you might be updating the plugins/mods, the plugins folder will include their settings folders and files which you may want to transfer over.

Hope that is more help.
