Default Slimes are killing the efficiency of mob towers :(

I think the squid bug (where they aren't despawned as they should) is killing all our mob spawn towers. As increasing numbers of squids spawn and never disappear the game will reach it's maximum number of simultanious spawns and stop spawning anything else. Such as mobs. In mob towers.

I would guess tamed wolves isn't helping either although I don't know if they count towards the mob total. I also don't know if neutral/friendly mobs and hostile mobs count towards the same limit, but I think they do.

Also at the same time as this happens all spelunking will be a lot safer as it's increasingly unlikely that you will find any enemies down there for the same reason.

This will be less noticable with a lot of people online. This is because I think the mob spawn limit is increased with more people, however if you're alone the squids will already have brought it way above your limit and nothing will be spawned, ever.

I know that in Mo Creatures, the more tamed animals you have, the less passive mobs will spawn... so unless there is something different happening with the tamed wolves, then yes, I imagine running about with your pack of wolves will decrease mob spawning... at least for passive mobs

There also seems to be a lot of slime around spawn, so I wonder if the slimes are like the squids - taking up space by not despawning?

I don't know about spawn rates for passive/aggressive....I always played on peaceful with my horse stable in single player.. but it would be interesting to see if I had 20 horses/dolphins, and some squid in the water would that stop any aggressive mobs spawning at all... I don't recall anyone in the mo creatures thread commenting on a lack of monsters due to keeping too many pets or increasing the spawn limit of passive mobs.

Yeah it might be slimes as well, I've seen them everywhere myself too. All I know though, is that my spawn tower is entirely dead when I'm alone on the server, which leads me to believe that _something_ is blocking the spawning of mobs, and this _something_ is probably a too high current mob number. Maybe a server restart would help?

Madmax and I recently uncovered what we believe was the master slime lair. It was located below sokingham palace. The room had at least 8 giant slimes and countless small slimes. We did our part in decreasing the spawn count of course.

Hmm.. I walked around an entire night and did not see any monsters.... plenty of animals though... I then went and checked a skelly spawner near my place, but that works...so not sure what's up

Yeah it's pretty safe to take an evening stroll nowadays

Edit: I checked my own zombie spawner and it was indeed working, and at the same time the mob tower was completely dead. If anything I think the spawner was more efficient than it has ever been

You can easily move around at night and not see a single hostile mob. Pretty much as safe as the creative server

Something is seriously messed up here...
