Default The Cylinder

A while ago I was talking to Skoville about railways and he mentioned that he wanted one that connected to the spawn station and stopped on the airship construction platform.

Since then a lot of construction has gone up in the area so the relatively straight-forward "cut-a-hole-to-the-surface and scaffold around the platform trunk" plan has gone by the board.

New plan: Find who owns the cylinder and get permission to scaffold around that It's surrounded by water at the moment so there are fewer toes to accidentally step on.

Other alternatives would be a straight ramp running alongside the skyroad from near Jarien's Treefort or from the ocean floor near NAM's island. (Ramp has to be 1:1 or less so it needs to run at least 40 units long to get to the airship platform, which means starting 40 or so from where it ends...

Suggestions? Opinions? Discussion?

As for connection, I suggest connecting from the midway station. There is one line there going towards your area. It's probably possible to branch it at some smart location.

Brings up another point. Everyone should try to place a sign when they start a construction area so people know who's handiwork it is.

This is a great idea. I have tried to do that so far. That reminds me that I should go back near the spawn base and tear down my first nights safety base I built. Or I should just place a sign that reads: "Abandoned safety base, removal is acceptable" or something.

Yes, good idea.

on another note... I didn't realise we could link to the map like that - awesome idea! makes it easier to talk about map parts, as taking a screenshot of it sometimes doesn't show you exactly where in the world it is, this way, you can scroll around to work out where you are if you're lost.

Do with it what you will,

(although it would be cool to see if the rain would fill it (if the rain filling holes thing ever happens))
