In case you haven't noticed, up by the link to the members' subforum is a link to the Minecraft Division's new calendar. We now can better record when all important things happen in the forum, rather than just having to search through the postings!

Members can enter any major events they are organising into the calendar. You can edit your own events, but you will need the help of a modmin to delete them. The present modmins for the calendar are: me, Bazz, Obsi, Exe and red_one

I suggest you keep entries brief and include links to forum threads that elaborate further on the event. Try and make the titles meaningful, since that is what people will first see on the calendar.

The calendar will have a few purposes.

Entries to look forward to

The calendar can be used to advertise future events like

competitions
challenges
server upgrades
major external events, like Minecon

While we will still have threads about these events, the calendar will help people quickly find out when things are on. The entries in the calendar can also include links to the threads.

So whether it is a full Division PvP challenge or just a little Spleef rumble in your "backyard", it can be added to the calendar.

Entries to look back on

The calendar will also include records of major happenings in the forum, e.g. when we changed servers or worlds, when we became a Division, when major changes occurred to Minecraft. This helps members, new and old, place things in context and reminisce. It also may help inspire new ideas.

So now, we can both record and make the history of the Minecraft Division.

More historical entries will be added over the coming weeks (things start September 2010).

As useful and smart as it is to use the calendar I'm pretty sure I will forget about it even existing one day after this thread disappears from the front page

And thank-you to Obsi for adding lots of historical entries, regardless of me telling her that I intended to ask for volunteers to do this. The reminiscing took control of her. :^)

Well, I must admit that I also intend to use it to help me write up Divisional reports whenever my Masters and Mistresses from TOG Modmin Land tell me to. But I think that we need to offer something like this for old players, so they can search up old events, and new players, so they can see what sort of things have happened without having to read through every thread in the forum.

I believe all major events in our history have now been added to the calendar. Basically just dated with a brief description and a link to the relevant forum post about it.
