Default 1.8 out of memory errors? this fixed it for me

I needed to install java from here:
http://javadl.sun.com/webapps/downlo...BundleId=52249
(linked from Java Downloads for All Operating Systems

and made sure I got the 64bit windows java.

Then I made a batch file for it with this in it:

"C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\javaw.exe" -Xms1024m -jar C:\Users\dave\downloads\minecraft.exe

Of course you need to point to the correct minecraft.exe

The batch file was to make sure I was using the 64bit version of java when using minecraft.
Then I went from having out of memory errors and lag/slow load times, to fast, and no crashes.

Hope that helps someone.

Also it seems to be related to draw distance. Going into the video and setting the draw distance down to normal helps quite a bit.

btw, I have upped my memory usage to 2Gb, as this high res texture pack I tried needed that. Still works great with 2Gb, might want to use that if you have the ram

Still having issues with crashing and black screen. It doesnt say I am out of memory, just saving chunks and black screen. No issues with the other 2 saved files (The kids files) Just this one.

Here is where I am a massive n00b

What is a batch file? How do I make one. (Assume notepad with the appropriate line?)

Do I need to put it in the Java folder/where? or the minecraft folder?

I am a bit sad now that I am such a knob and don't know this.

your issue isn't ram then. Mostly likely a corrupt save file.
You need to restore from backup, or give up on that save file most likely sorry.
