Who know. Maybe you have to eat them all, jump up and down a few times, and run anticlockwise around a hill 8 times under a full moon.

Or maybe not.

These seem really really cool. You mix up some stuff, and hope it makes a potion that does the positive things, but not too many negatives. Going to be really interesting.

Water breathing will open up so many more construction opportunities down in the Oceans . We could build the next Atlantis.

For now you can use doors. Just drop a door, makes 1x1x2 air pocket.

Apparently the cauldrons are still in the game, but don't hold anything but water.

The problem was that in order to brew potions, you had to
  • Fill it with water
  • Add ingredients
  • Withdraw a bottle of the brew
  • Open your inventory to find the tooltip for the brew
  • Close the inventory
  • Pour the bottle back (or add another ingredient)
  • Withdraw a bottle of the brew
  • Open your inventory to find the tooltip for the brew...
  • Close the inventory. . . . .
  • Pour ......
See what I'm getting at? =)

So now, my initial reaction was to add a GUI for the cauldron instead, but having a GUI with three liquid levels felt really weird. Also, dropping water on a GUI didn't feel as good as dropping it into a cauldron.

So I was thinking about this for a while and discussed it with Notch. The "solution" (and by "solution" I mean "what I'm currently testing") was to create a GUI with one input that added effects to three outputs, so you didn't have to close the screen between changes. This didn't fit with the cauldron concept, so I was going for a alembic thing instead, but changed it to a stand because of how it visually would fit into a block.

In any case, work in progress.

I would have thought a similar method to the workbench would work well for the cauldrons...
