ok to help a mate out (and others) if your like me and run 2 versions Minecraft and Minecraft Portable

here's what ya do to make Minecraft Portable run 1.9.5
First grab ya file from here 1.9.5 PR is Ready For Testing! - News - Minecraft Forum

Copy it from the download location (ie file copy or file cut)

Second Open Windows Explorer and navigate to
:\MineCraft Portable\Data\.Minecraft\Bin

Paste the file here, replacing hte current Minecraft.jar file.

and there you have it minecraft portable updated.

For infinite lava, do you need the plus, or can it be just 3x1 like water. With water if you take the middle block of water it will be replaced.

I've heard you need "the plus" sign.
