Apparently more bugs need fixing...

Minecraft 1.4.7 Pre-release

Quote:
Unfortunately we managed to include two “null pointer exception” cases in 1.4.6, and we feel they should be patched.
This release is compatible with 1.4.6 and has almost no bytecode changes, so mods that have been updated for 1.4.6 should work in 1.4.7 too. The only affected file is the one called “qz”, which is the arrow projectile’s class. This also means that 1.4.6 clients can play on 1.4.7 servers, and 1.4.7 clients on 1.4.6 servers… so we’ll wait until after New Year’s Eve before we publish it in the launcher. Download the pre-release if you want these problems fixed before then!
The fixes are:
  • Fixed crash related to arrows fired from dispensers
  • Fixed a multiplayer crash when using fireworks without a fireworks star
  • Fixed long timeout when checking SRV records

latest snapshot: Minecraft Snapshot 13w01a

This is new stuff planned for MC 1.5, the redstone expansion.

  • Added the Redstone Comparator block (this replaces the Capacitor we talked about at Minecon)
  • Added the Daylight Detector block
  • Added a Hopper block (still work in progress)
  • Added a chest that activates redstone
  • Added weighted pressure plates that detect item stacks
  • Added Block of Redstone block (works as a pushable redstone torch)
  • Added a new ore to the Nether
  • Added a Nether Brick item for crafting Nether Brick blocks
  • A whole bunch of other stuff… Try for instance double-clicking items, or drag-placing them, in the inventory

A rather cool street lamp designed using the light detector, a piston, redstone block and glowstone lanterns.

This is great. The nether has always seemed fairly barren apart from Glowstone, but gaining a new ore will give us more incentive to mine it. Probably means a nether reset eventually (now we understand more about save files we could keep Nether Spawn).

Yesterday the vanilla Minecraft updated to 1.4.7 to fix some bugs. Today there is another snaphsot: Minecraft Snapshot 13w02a

This is the start of the new texture pack system. Each item will have a separate file for its texture, rather than using a single file for all textures for all items. This enables textures to have multiple images and be animated. It also will allow texture packs to be incomplete as the default texture file will be used to fill the gaps.

Other features:
  • Improved death messages
  • added quartz blocks
  • Improved naming (using the anvil) of containers and mob eggs
  • Trapped chests now give off the redstone signal through walls
  • Improved hoppers and made them controllable by redstone

Um, it seems that for some the capabilities of minecarts are a little too enhanced without little effort. Go to 5m03s to see what I mean. I think Mojang might have a little to work on here.

Ahaha laughed myself silly. I liked his comment at 4:17 just before the part you were referring to - "They just blow up at flipping random!"

P.S. Excpet he doesn't say flipping.....
