There is a desert near me that a couple of us have been mining. Even has its own portal so travel to it is fairly fast. We've been digging into neat rectangular patches to keep it minimal but please feel free to make use of this area.

The Nether coordinates are -107, -130 but if you follow the signs from the spawn portal to get to my place and then just keep heading left after that you should find it. The portal is signposted as 'Desert Village and Quarry' or something.

I think that I scouted that desert while looking for a place to build...the suitable spot was too close to Marvel's dig site. It is accessible by boat for me for slow but safe travel. Getting ready to plunk a portal into the nether soon, so I might be able to travel that way, too.

Well, so far my own on-site reserves look to be more plentiful than I first suspected, but when I do hit the desert phase, I do plan on covering my tracks as DarkDuck illustrated. That looks great. One question, why the half slabs instead of full cubes, or even dirt?

Duck works the rule of halves.

Being a half-wit, Duck does things half-arsed. You can't put back natural things like sand half-arsed so the next best thing is to use half-blocks.

Just kidding, Duck isn't a half-wit. Being clueless he must also be witless too.

heheh good one Splat

the real reason for hte half blocks is I had a shed load of cobble and felt like using somethign that was distinct. also it stuffs up zombies lol.

Dirt etc works fine!

I created a sand villiage by removing just the top layer of sand from a desert as i built, and never went short of resources.
