Default A bit af a conundrum...

I keep finding uninvited guests in areas that they shouldn't be able to get in to. I can't find any place they could be coming in, but they keep showing up. Anyone have any ideas what might cause this? I must be missing something

Been happening to me lately too, just tonight I got ambushed by a couple creepers hiding between two well-lit houses I'd built.. was like being mugged.

A few times I've had mobs appear out of nowhere in my walled courtyard. Walled and with a lava moat I might add.

creepers gonna creep..

The endermen can't be stopped since they often TP in, but a creeper in the house is truely frightening. I still find mobs spawning within my well lit walls as well, and usually, upon investigation I find a slightly darker area that I put a torch on.

If they were always the same type, I would suspect a spawner. Otherwise, all you can do is add more torches and doors.

If memory serves they will still spawn even in better lighted areas, it just reduces it considerably. As for Endermen as long as they fit they can teleport in and out. Ive had some inside my bedroom before just wandering about ><

I think generally the problem isn't so much accessibility as darkness. Mobs don't tend to walk into ones home unless you're inside and they get your "scent". It's more likely that there happened to be some small area that is just a little too dark, and then one of them spawn.

Try to lower the brightness on your screen as that makes everything darker and you have to put up more torches to perceive the same light level.

although now wiki only reads
Mobs will frequently spawn in groups with mobs of the same variety.
Mobs will not spawn on transparent blocks, in Water (except for Squid) or Lava or half blocks (Slabs), except from Monster Spawners. where they can even spawn in air.
Mobs can not see through semi-transparent blocks such as Ice, Glass or Glass panes.

so make your floors glass lads

Or use halfblocks in most places.

Hmm, half block floors. A good way to stop those creeper explosions when I log in and find the little green pests running over looking all sad wanting a hug.
