I think a 2-3 block high obvious (endstone would be good) pillar every 10 blocks would be sufficient, and you probably won't need to put a torch ontop, but you could for extra visibility... Signs every so often along them would be good, especially at any main entrances.

I'm happy to start mining end stone if that's what you want to use.

I don't mind creating a glowstone floating PvP sign facing both directions (opposite of the edge of the map) if nobody objects, however with my client glitching on this computer I try not to do much work up high for fear of falling down or getting kickced, mostly the second. Ender Pearls seem to save me when I fall if I'm in the butter zone of not being too low or too high.

Okay, from looking at the maps, where beds, players, construction, signs and torches are, I suggest the following areas:

Remember that we may wish to expand it later, so areas on the borders are best. I also don't think we all want to be in snowy areas, but it is good to have as an option.

Looking at each area in turn
  1. can be expanded on two sides, but is small to start with
  2. can be expanded on its longest side and has a wide range of biomes, but a lot is sand and no big grassy area
  3. can be expanded on its longest side but will expand into ocean. Has a wide range of biomes, but no big grassy area.
  4. lots of trees but is small to start with
  5. lots of snow but can be expanded on its longest side
My favourite is 2. I don't think we want to use 2 and 3 combined. Natural sea waters are helpful borders, so I wouldn't want to just use the combined middle sections of 2 and 3 either. I don't think this needs a poll, but has anyone have any objections to going with 2?

I like section 2 and 3 much better than 1, mostly because section 1 will be really small and very close to my hideaway up there. Riff raff.. people on my lawn...all night keggers, who wants that around?

Section 2 and 3 will have a southern border but include a diverse set of biomes. I think the idea of an NPC village base (portal/spawn point/lockers etc) in a pvp survival area would be cool once the NPC trade feature is patched in.

The section already has a natural "expansion border" as well.

anyway... my 2 bits

Area 2 looks perfect. A very nice mix of biomes.

Agreed. I like the variety also.

When can we start? I'll set up and start building/signing borders as soon as it's decided.

2 looks good to me too.

Have we decided what to do about making a border/fence/marked line?
