• Furnaces! Every available block and item can now be gathered, crafted or smelted into.

Bug Fixes:

Bugs:

• Saplings aren't available in Creative

• Crafting a iron block only needs 6 iron ingots, but a iron block yields 9 iron ingots
• It only needs 4 wood blocks to craft a door

Minecraft 0.3.3 update for the Pocket edition is available through App Store and and Google Play.

• Added skeletons and spiders.
• Added bow and arrow.

• Torches can now be placed on fences

• You can no longer get unlimited diamonds, gold and iron by breaking apart blocks of them and building together as a new block.
• Swords now take damage from hitting mobs.
• Golden tools are no longer tougher than wooden tools.
• Users can no longer place sugar cane in water.

I am playing the iPod at the moment. Much harder with skeletons and spiders. So many mobs spawn. Much more fun than previous versions though.

Getting caught outside at night is suicide.

Has enough baddies and animals now to keep the game interesting.

Still a small world? Or don't you notice? Can you use a Creative mode yet?

Sorontar

The world seems substantial enough, plenty of room to build. Probably half a kilometre square.

(I checked the wiki, 255x255 blocks but seems bigger)

There is quite a good Creative mode with a large number of blocks including most of the ones you would expect in the PC version. No redstone yet.

The WIFI works well for multiplayer.

Minecraft 0.4.0 update for the Pocket edition is available through App Store (iOS) and and Google Play (Android ).

Minecraft - Pocket Edition 0.4.0 is OUT!

The main features are:

• Chests to store items
• Creepers!
• TNT, and flint and steel to ignite
• Food items added: apples, bread, mushroom soup, beef, chicken and pork
• Added recipes: wool from string, green wool and stone bricks
• Added a Peaceful Mode option for survival mode without monsters
• Added wheat, seeds and hoe
• Added moss stone, redstone ore and white wool to creative inventory
• Added trap door
• Added several more dyes (combined from primary dyes)

Tweaks:

• Made the day longer
• Limited the total number of a given monster type
• When using an item, the player’s movement speed is decreased

Bug fixes:

• Added fall damage for clients
• Stairs reverted back to their basic blocks when destroyed

Sorontar

The MC Pocket Edition is now also available through Amazon. It is supposedly now easier to install on a Kindle, even though this could be hacked in before with the Android version (which the Kindle one actually is).

Anyone else used this a lot? I'm considering getting it for playing while at work.

I have played Minecraft PE since the first release (which was terrible) !!! I really didn't like it.

With every update it gets much better though. There is a free demo version you can try, but it has less blocks and no save feature.

Now the game is enjoyable and has enough content to keep the game interesting. The multiplayer is also good. I would cautiously give it the thumbs up, remembering that it's not a full blown version of Minecraft, but getting closer to the PC version with each update.

Once you have a good play with the controls they are fairly easy to handle.

For the price i would say it is good value to play at a bus stop or during a lunch break.

Might give it a go then. Probably wait until I'm home and can play around a bit so I'll learn the controls properly. Currently we're fishing so well that I don't have much time to play around with anything. :)
