Pre-release Minecraft 1.3 is out

Mojang has released a preliminary copy of Minecraft 1.3 so that mod developers can get their mods up-to-date before the official release on August 1. (The Weekly Chunk: Minecraft 1.3 Prerelease). The files can be treated like any weekly snapshot.

Client: http://assets.minecraft.net/1_3/minecraft.jar
Server: http://assets.minecraft.net/1_3/minecraft_server.jar (or EXE)

Mojang are also running a competition, asking people to develop a 30 sec video that uses MC 1.3 to promote/explain MC 1.3.

Our servers will stay with MC 1.2 until MC 1.3 is officially released and our Bukkit plugins are updated.

UPDATE: The release has been updated to 1.3.1 instead of just 1.3, because the obfuscation was wrong and made life (more) difficult for modders. We also fixed a couple of other minor issues. Normal users don’t need to bother to download again, the patch doesn’t contain any new features, and this 1.3.1 build will be pushed on Wednesday.
