TOGlympics building site is open

The TOGlympics world has been set up as a temporary replacement to Sanctuary (tog.swoit.as:25565). The spawn has been relocated to the outside of an Olympic village and a border of 1000 blocks from that location has been set.

We now need people to build event sites so that next weekend we can gather for the chaos that is the TOGlympics. A red wool ring road has been marked in the plains near the village. Please use that as guidance when you pick a location for an event. Each event should be positioned near or have a path from the outside of the red ring road. The inside of the road can be used for the more symbolic structures. Further paths will lead off the ring road.

There are no rules about how to build things but be prepared that other players might want to contribute. Tell others what sport you are adding by adding it to the board near spawn. Try and cater for a number of people competing at once, e.g. archery targets for 5 or more people. Also allow for spectators and referees. See http://www.theoldergamers.com/forum/...cs-sports.html for suggested sports.

And the TOGlympic village can modified to make it look more like the theme. I recommend that any extensions use the land between the ocean and existing village, so that the inland areas can be used for events.

Have fun building so that others may run/fire/punt/jump/...

We have to gather resources to build?
Mobs are turned off?

Sorontar 28th July 2012 12:11 PM

It is the same as Sanctuary. Creative gamemode can be used. At the moment, mobs are off.

Okay, I have added a few building suggestions to the opening post.

For reference, here is a map of the world at the time I started it at home. I will try to set up a nightly google map for our server.

I am also happy to announce that HenriDeacon will be a new moderator during this event. Please respect him like you do all other in-game moderators.

With the archery..... would it not be better to have it so that more than one competitor can be firing at once? I'm sure that's going to be a popular event, so being able to have several people go at once would speed that up...

The map of the TOGlympics world is now available. See the http://www.theoldergamers.com/forum/...downloads.html sticky. Make sure that any event site you add is accessible from the red ring road.

Thanks to those who have started the construction. So far we have work on
  • lane swimming
  • rowing
  • target archery
  • fencing
  • high diving
  • fowl hockey
  • blockit
  • long distance cross-country

YOGs-Olympics uses a long range. It has two types of archery - unobstructed and obstructed. The obstructed version forces players to fire through a glass wall with holes in it. The wall is about 2-3 blocks away (I think).

Yes, allowing for 5 or more players to compete at once would be good. Perhaps the best solution is to place a larger firing platform where the targets presently are and cut through the hill where the present firing platform is for a row of targets. A bit of terraforming doesn't hurt.

Yes was looking at multi-player. Wish we had colored arrows for each person, otherwise scoring would be a nightmare. So still single player at the moment.

The player shoots at all 5 targets in turn from left to right for 4 rounds.

Red 5 points, Yellow 3 points, White 1 point. For a maximum score of 100.

Help !!!! Need a redstone person to put this advanced archery / skeet shooting platform on a half second timer so where the shooter stands goes up and down constantly. I'm a noob at redstone timers.
