Exclamation ATTENTION: Division Rule Change

After deliberation and discussion, I have decided to abolish the requirement that an applicant for server access be a member of TOG for 6 months before being allowed to join the Minecraft division servers.

An applicant will still need to join TOG. A non-TOG member who wants to play with us will need to be vouched for by a TOG member.

That is a great move for the Division. We have missed out on some wonderful players because of the 6 month waiting period. With the speed that Minecraft evolves, 6 months is like a ten year wait.

Good rule change...but I will admit, it does worry me a little.

I'm not sure why. If someone misbehaves, I will ban them. Having the rule in place did not eliminate the need to ban people. We don't publish the information, but there have been people banned, even under the rule. I'm not convinced we'll see much of a difference.

My concern is that getting into TOG is not really a challenge. You just sign up and get accepted.
If someone came to my place right now and took some of my stuff without asking, I wouldn't notice because I've gotten so comfortable here that it is not a concern like on more lax servers.

I guess it is just me being more paranoid than anything...everything might be just fine.

I will certainly be keeping an eye on things. I may, after a time, reinstate the rule if there is an increase in griefing or theft. For now, I'd like to try being more open to new members.

I think it is a nice move Irimar, like you said it can always be revised, there is no need for paranoia

Lets face it everything is reversible, our team action things very fast and if anyone does have something taken or broken we fix it quickly so the person affected has no issues getting back to what they were doing straight away as if nothing happened, we take the word of the TOG member affected by theft so no lengthy investigations

... the only real loser is anyone who thinks stealing others items gives them enjoyment. Finding things yourself, trading with items you have worked hard for and the sense of achievement when you finish something is where the real enjoyment is, thieves are just robbing themselves not others

and in the case of someone destroying things not only will it earn the person a perm ban from TOG, it is also able to be fixed quite quickly so their handy work is short lived and a bit of a waste of time IMO
