Default PAX - The Minecraft bits

Much of Mojang is over in the US at the moment, getting ready for PAX, a three-day game festival for tabletop, videogame, and PC gamers. They will be giving us a preview of the Adventure update (Beta 1.8 ), but there will be other parts of the program that are Minecraft related. I will be eagerly waiting for videos and descriptions to appear later this week.

From http://prime.paxsite.com/schedule.php

PC Gamer Presents: The PC in 2011 and 2012
Unicorn Theatre
Friday 12:30pm - 1:30pm

We did a crazy thing. We got tired of the world's most popular gaming platform not having a formal presence at gaming conventions. So we did something about it. For one special hour, we've gathered PC gaming's best minds and producers and "Voltroned" them together into a giant presentation-giving robot of unlimited power.

Rally up as we roll out the red carpet for the platform with the most fans (see what we did there?) and reveal unannounced secret projects, and exhibit world-first live demos from EA, Guild Wars 2, Minecraft, GOG.com, Sony Online, and still more. Hosted by the team that's been yelling about PC gaming for 15 years, PC Gamer.

Panelists include: Logan Decker [Editor-in-Chief, PC Gamer], Evan Lahti [Senior Editor, PC Gamer], Josh Augustine [Assoc. Editor, PC Gamer], Tyler Wilde [Assoc. Editor, PC Gamer]

The Yogscast - Digging a Hole
Pegasus Theatre
Saturday 10:00am - 11:00am

One man, one dwarf... The Yogscast are the runaway hit of the UK webcasting scene, bringing their irrepressible humour, Jaffa Cakes and gaming experience 'to a world they did not understand'. Millions of viewers have watched them struggle (and sometimes fail) with WoW, Minecraft, Portal 2, Rift and Fable III. Here, the Yogscast are streamed live from the UK to explore the world of Minecraftia, answer questions, and maybe even sing a song about digging a hole. Starring Simon and Lewis, with the cast of Shadow of Israphel, and hosted from the floor by Dr Esther MacCallum-Stewart.

Panelists include: Hannah Rutherford [Owl Keeper, Yogscast], Simon Lane [Miner, Yogscast], Lewis Brindley [Spaceman, Yogscast], Esther MacCallum-Stewart [Host, The University of Chichester / DiGRA]

The Hidden Value of Punching Trees: Minecraft & the Future of Game Culture
Raven Theatre
Sunday 10:30am - 11:30am

Minecraft has exploded in the past year to become one of the most popular and recognized video games amongst fans and the industry -- and it all started as an indie side-project developed by one guy, Markus Persson (aka. notch). While Minecraft has become infamous for its petrifying Creepers and a 1:1 scale copy of the Starship Enterprise, the game also reveals a lot about the future of game development and game culture in the Internet era. PhD researcher Alex Leavitt looks at the development and spread of Minecraft to explain the cultural and social implications of this indie title gone viral: from the insane passion for a game that still isn't finished to the careful creation of a game with millions of playtesters. A panel for Minecraft newbies and seasoned tree-punching veterans alike.

Panelists include: Alex Leavitt [PhD Researcher, Annenberg School for Communication, University of Southern California]

They are probably going to be other bits as well as the Mojang booth.
