Damn... I hate glowstone, such limited supply and hard to get
Not that I like that admins produce stuff out of thin air, especially on the frontier server, but maybe some glowstone should be spawned? It's very limited in supply and mining it destroys the look of the the Nether in my opinion.

I hope you haven't seen any mod or admin doing that on Frontier without good reason. When we play, we have to follow the same rules as anyone else. However there are times when we spawn stuff due to griefing or server faults, etc. That is admin duty, not playing.

On Sanctuary anyone can use creative mod to spawn resources and items. It is their choice.

There are no borders in the Nether yet (hence no map). If you are bold enough to wander, then you may find more glowstone. Like all resources, it is there to be mined but on Frontier there is always a risk involved.

Isn't there a risk that Nether gets extremely large after a while? Perhaps the sides should be trimmed from time to time so they regenerate and more glowstone is created?

Even with needing glowstone, the redstone lighting is awesome! If I ever finish my castle, my next large project is a dungeon, including many dark areas to spawn monsters. I plan to build in a lighting system so that I can light it to safely reset chests and traps, and this will make it MUCH easier.

On the subject of Nether....yeah, I've discovered that building close to spawn has the disadvantage that I can't put up a portal that doesn't connect to an existing one...usually spawn. Since I have a harbor, I'm thinking of building a platform out at sea to get a better spot.....or across the ocean if necessary. But I'll need enough glowstone that just heading out far from the portal may be the way to go.

When Minecraft 1.2 comes, we will probably expand the borders so that jungles etc can be included in our worlds. The Nether may be pruned then expanded at that time. At the moment, we are letting you wander where you like but giving you no map. We may later decide to set borders and give you a map.

And yes, getting portals to go to the right places is always an issue. That is why we counsel against building them in the Nether (just in the overworld). However, sometimes that may be necessary. If you are not sure how to map Nether portals to overworld portals, then ask on the forum. Better to be safe than sorry.

I'm also loving the introduction of on/off lights idea.

Brew, I've also been scheming and planning a similar thing to your dungeon

I've always loved the idea of a haunted house with maze-like corridors, being able to set it up safely, then turn the lights off and let all hell break loose will be epic. Switch it back on and clear it, reset.

Can't wait!
