Snow Golem - Minecraft Wiki

They are fine in deserts but won't leave snow there. They die if attacked, but don't despawn otherwise, because they are an automaton, not a living mob.

Snow Golems can and will jump over fences given the chance, thus spreading snow everywhere.

Snowmen defences!!!?

I did find some pumpkin seeds but how does this witchcraft work? I must investigate more

edit: I see how they work, excellent for keeping inside a wall especially during construction when mobs sapwn on top of large structures that dont have lighting and perform the dropbear attack. Nothing like hearing a hiss only to realise it was from above and its already too late.

Out of all my farm/mining areas, my farm (wheat, trees, etc..) ended up in a snow area.

I guess I can't complain, I was looking for snow for my home place.

Since snow falls from above our building height level, you should be able to (though it won't be particularly aesthetically pleasing) just build a glass ceiling at the top-most building height around your land, and that will prevent snow falling and still let light in.

In theory. The glass may be covered in snow and cast a huge shadow on the land below.

I can confirm it works.... Snow doesn't settle on the glass

I cleared snow from the land around, built the ceiling then made it snow.... the snow settled on the surrounding land (showing where the glass ceiling protected it)... and no snow formed on the ceiling - I assume because it's at the top height blocks can be on.

It's ok, I'm just building a crap load of "greenhouses" for the things that need it.

I officially hate snow .. and it has made me have to alter my castle as the stupid snow doesnt even have decency to cover the whole castle instead it draws a line exactly in the middle, i cannot believe that there is no way to swicth it off .. with sanctuary & creative options there is no need for it >< those that want it could place it im not at all happy

ranting is not usually my style but im not happy jan

When 1.2 comes out, the border of the snow may slightly change with the introduction of jungles etc. Don't presume that all hope is lost.
