Received my product activation key today in my email, and it says it can be downloaded via steam, something MineCraft really should have done in my opinion.

Yep. Build 0.01 is live. Haven't had long to prod at it yet, but I have to say first impressions look very promising.

First play I would describe as pretty frustrating.

Not keen on the movement, and camera work, reminds me of Tomb Raider when you just couldn't get the right angles.

Yuck, Steam. Guess I'll be steering clear for now then.

I'm looking forward to having a play. Not expecting much from a first snapshot.

Hello Patterns Customer,

Our first update is right around the corner. We're going to be updating to a bigger world, adding more shapes to find in the world and - based on your feedback - we're adding the ability to place formations on your own creations as well as ours. We're also fixing plenty of bugs.

Our plan is to update on Thursday October 18 on Steam. We'll keep you posted on our progress.

Thanks for all the great feedback and thanks again for being an early adopter of Patterns!

I had a go at building a more substantial bridge and found it hard to get right.

One nice thing about it is that if part of the structure is weak, the parts under the most stress begin to glow, and get highlighted.

Parts of the structure creak and collapse at times, turning a darker colour, which was confusing at first as although the structure had 'collapsed' it actually stayed in place, that is it cracked away from the original structure but didn't completely fall away, so it wasn't obvious it had collapsed and I could no longer join things to it. It highlights these bits with a red outline instead of a green outline.

It's important to know the controls, using TAB key to go into first person mode is much better. The game was pretty laggy at times.

The game has been running pretty smoothly for me. Biggest problem i have is falling to my death

The kids are having a great time on the game. They think it's a winner so far.

The materials look great and we are still learning the characteristics of each. Pushing blocks around is a real novelty. I love the idea of things failing structurally, and had some very funny colapses already. Digging the bottom of a tree makes it all come crashing down.

The game controls can use a little work, but for an alpha not bad.
