I remembered to do a "before" (though only after I'd started clearing and flattening out the land)
Then it was time for some TNT
..a lot of TNT'ing
Originally I'd planned it to be using wood fences on the balcony railings, with lampposts and gardens and making it look very "earthy", but then I decided to go with the grey brick and nether fence theme instead.... and just decorated things as I went. It's funny how you can imagine one thing and end up making something different - but that probably worked out better than it would have if you'd gone with the initial plan (originally I was going to put a Goddess statue in the centre and carve houses out of the walls... but I scrapped those ideas due to not allowing enough space)

Then I had to decide how to do the top... My plan had been for a little village type thing, but I'd not flattened out enough space, and couldn't be bothered increasing it
so I decided to make a tower in each corner. But then I realised that one corner was in a swamp and the water around the building had both swamp and normal water, which looked ugly, so I had to make it a lava moat on that corner instead. Which then made me think of making the 4 towers represent the 4 elements (earth, air, fire and water).
Inside them is a sort of spiral staircase (hard to do nicely in a limited size building) up to the levels (which are all the same in each tower)

There is a bridge that connects my place to a tower thing that blends the building style of my place and that of my neighbour. So we combined them into the tower. My fence/lattice type stuff, and his more heavy industrial type style.
(We ran out of height, so to me the tower looks a bit unfinished on the top, but so be it)
