Default Automatic scrap generator

Automatic scrap generator

I certainly know little about Mindcrack automation, but after a creeper totally obliterated my old workshop and all my machines a few days back, so i started again from scratch. Something i managed to build today was an automatic scrap generator. It's big, slow and ugly but it works

The redstone timer powers 2 block breakers which pull cobble from the cobble generator and feeds them along the pipes into the twin recyclers, which then drop the scrap off into chests. The machine is powered by a generator fed with blaze rods. I since removed the batbox as i didnt need it.

awesome, ya know you could then pump the scrap onto an auto table to make scrap boxes and have pipes pull it off to a chest!

You know what would be even better than that? Using an igneous extruder that automatically creates cobblestone blocks. Will be a lot less laggy, possibly faster and more compact.

It's also possible to use gates to prevent the engines to run constantly. Might be lag reducing as well.

You can feed three igneous extruders into a recycler with five overclockers. I have a lever hooked up that applies a signal to the everything in the setup. it turns off all the pipes and the extruders when I want to shut it down.

But it will also require more resources to set up and will constantly require a power source. In my books, that is more complex and costly than what Henri has made which relies on simple elements and redstone.

Speed isn't everything.

It will be more resource intensive, but igneous extruders don't require power.

I like Henri's method, speed is not everything, and if Henri is happy with his then thats all that matters

I don't disagree that if Henri is happy with his, then it's a good setup for him. I like my way, he likes his. Everybody's happy.

In my opinion, in the interest of server stability and resource usage one should always strive to build machines in the least resource intensive way. Having an external cobblestone generator when there exists a perfectly fine non-external one is not optimal in this regard.

Almost every aspect of my base is built around the notion of placing as little demand on the server as humanly possible, but my efforts will all be in vein if others completely disregard this.

I understand that due to lack of knowledge of what machines are available it's not always so easy to do this in reality, but in that case one have to be open to suggestions from those who know. If everyone built scrap generators like this the server would be on its knees in no time, no matter how ingenious the contraption is from a construction point of view.
