Default Fights On! EQ2 vs WoW---EQ2 Shipping Date Moved Up!

Received this via e-mail, as did other toggers from other order sites...dates vary, 8 and 9, but still great news...now will WoW follow suit?

Dear EBgames.com Customer,

Thanks for pre-ordering from EBgames.com! As an added benefit to ordering from us, we’ll keep you informed of ship date changes. We are writing to let you know that the publisher has set a new ship date for Everquest 2 of November, 8th 2004. As always, EBgames.com will not charge your credit card until we ship your order.

Lol - this is the biggest 'race-to-retail' I think I've ever seen between two games. It will be interesting to see how/if WoW responds.

I just hope the gamers don't suffer too much with a frustrating experience in the early weeks. It leaves a bad taste in the mouth to be so excited about a game on release day, unwrap, install and not be able to play for some reason or another.

But I'm reasonably confident - in WoW, only the power gaming fast-levellers would suffer I think (and then only a bit); lower-level content is pretty much sorted, it seems to me. The Devs could release and then flesh out the higher-level content in the first couple of patches.

Hopefully EQ2 is at the about the same degree of completion.

Well, the nice thing is you can play the WoW open beta at the same time (so far) and compare! Although, with these types of games, once you're in, you're in...of course, if we really get lucky, one will have down servers while the others is up, and vice versa!

Having been in the SWG beta, I really hoped SOE wouldn't do the same thing they did there. Sadly, it was a false hope I'll still get the game though
