God,...i havent been here in ages and now i remember the reason why..no 1 played sro..aqnd still dont i see. Ive been hooked on the game for 2 years this Febreuary. Look me up on Venice..BlazeofGlory. Ummm if u do intend to check it out u should no 1 thing...u have to LOVE to grind lvls. There plenty to do in game, crafting, jobs, killing,murder, pvp..but the end result is grinding.

There were a couple of us playing, but it became old very quickly. The last straw was after killing 250 bandits for a quest, being told to go kill another 500 for the follow up quest. Grindfest? Definately.

In total agreement Lichbane, I gave up on SRO after those quests as well. That just was a joke to me, I'll test any MMO to see if I like it, found a new one I am trying and enjoy it so far, but SRO is not for me.

Funny, because i was thinking of trying Silk Road (I ntoiced its in the top 10 played games on xfire), but after reading this, i think I'll give it a miss. Everytime i see a free MMO that appeals to me, its not long before I ask around and get a plethora of sucky reviews to turn me off it

I think Mythos will eb the close as i get to a free MMO (when its released that is)

yah. I 'd wondered about SRO briefly but as soon I read it was pretty much the ultimate grindfest I quickly forgot it.

God, for better or worse, I've downloaded silkroad - I guess it will cost me nothing (but my time)! I just keep hoping that ONE of these free MMOs will be good...

I didn't mind silkroad, it really depends on your play style. I used to play with a friend from scotland, we'd jump on vent, get drunk, and go grind the bajillion bandits. The skill system is actually pretty cool, and the game really isn't as horribly grindish if you group with friends.

There's also an interesting party system, you have the traditional one, where everyone who is within range shares exp, but they also have this other one, where it doesn't matter where other people are, the exp isn't shared and the more people in your group, the more exp you get per kill.

I used to play a lot of these free korean cookie cutter MMOs, Silkroad and Rappelz are the only 2 I actually enjoyed. But then on the other hand, it does all come down to grinding.
