Hellgate: London Beta Signups [September 17, 2007, 10:54 am ET]

The Hellgate: London Website is now accepting applications from those interested in participating in closed beta testing of Hellgate: London, Flagship Studios' upcoming action/RPG (thanks Voodoo Extreme). Word is that alpha testers need not reapply, entering more than once may disqualify you, content in the beta is covered by an NDA, and, humorously: "Signing up doesn't guarantee an invite, but does raise your chances significantly in receiving one."

It seems you need some kind of account on their site, but there doesn't seem any way to sign up. What am I missing?

While being sensitive to the NDA......the beta server is not up atm, nor do I think the link at the HGL beta site is active. The folks that got in today where part of the pre-order campaign.

But if you wish to take part of that campaign I recommend that you purchase via the internet since they'll have your email address, per your order, of where to send the key. My understanding is, based on poster feedback, is that the brick and mortar locations do not have any info on the pre-order beta. Some people have given their email addresses to the game store employees but I don't trust that method. No one has reported seeing pre-order boxes on shelves containing beta info.

This probably doesn't belong in the MMO forums; Hellgate London isn't really an MMO of any kind.

That being said, Oct. 31st can't come soon enough!

It probably fits somewhere in between Guild Wars and Diablo ... but then again, I don't regard Guild Wars as an MMO.

The high level game play is pretty much exactly like Guild Wars, meaning that you have a spoke and wheel system new zones. Each city is connected via an instance that you must traverse thru to get to the next city. Each new hub, or subway station, is progressively harder as you move forward.

The pace is fast and fun.

Just wondering if any Aussies have preordered this. They have the preorder pack at gameswarehouse.com.au, just wondering if anyone knows any other Aussie stores offering the preorder. It seems like a pretty good option at this point, you get to try out the beta, if you don't like it you can cancel your order, if you do like it, you then have the founders lifetime payment option.
