Default WOW Video Card requirements

I'm planning on getting WOW when it's released but I know I'll need to upgrade my current video card (GeForce2 32MB).

What vid cards do you reccomend?
What's the difference between between AGP and PCI?

I've been playing the WoW beta using my Radeon 9600 128mb and it looks fantastic. It's not the newest latest but it does a great job on everything I've tried, even Doom 3. You can get one for about $100 at newegg.com.

AGP is a dedicated graphics slot. PCI is the older multipurpose slot. The newest standard is PCI Express, which is much faster. You most likely have an AGP slot unless your computer is really old or brand new.

Hope that was of some help!

Blah
Default WoW runs on old stuff too

Well... I was able to run the game on a TNT2 card as well as a Radeon VE (7000) card. BUT, the textures really sucked.

Besides a newer video card make sure your system has more than 256 MB RAM. My system only has 256 and the game would lag while it thrashed my hard drive swap.

Hi mate. I'm shifting this to our lab forums where swarms of eager techies await to answer your every question

If you're buying new and have some cash, I'd opt for one of the X800 line from ATI. If not, you will pick up some fairly cheap 9800 XT 256 MB cards over the coming months and those will do the job pretty well (it's what I have).

Edit: Oops! Choc ain't a TOG member yet so he won't be able to view the private forums moving right back again...
