Shadowbane (redone, free, and all toons start new)

I never played this pvp centric MMO, but i may give it a go here just to see. Everyone starts fresh with the new patch and relaunch so now is the time.

I beta'd shadowbane. I bought it 1st day on release.

I lasted a couple months, but the release of the game was THE worst in gaming history. I played it for 3-4 months after release before moving on.

I played it for a couple months on and off since they moved to the free system. Now that the bugs are released it is a VERY good game, but it is not for the faint of heart. I have helped kill several tree of lifes (guild trees) which towns are centered around, and have had my own guilds tree's killed several times.

Very good game now days, especially since it is free.

Oh man I beta that game and played it live couple of months until my guild city got cleared. We worked so hard to get that city where it was, spent so much making it huge and then 1 day couple of big guilds joined forces to take us out. The battle was long, fun and brutal...at the end, we lost because everyone’s items were broken and we went through all our spare equipment. Also people just left during the fight cause it was taking too long or they got tired of getting killed over and over losing all their gear. Let me tell you, spies in this game were everywhere. People joined guilds just to spy on them and report to their real guild. It was the most brutal pvp game I ever played. But after losing that city and all our gear it just took the wind out of a lot people in our guild which resulted in many quitting, like my self.

I just read about it and it looks like I might go back it give it another go but I'm really waiting for AoC which I will stop playing everything else to play AoC. But in all honesty, AoC looks much like Shadowbane is/was.

I agree, you cannot play shadowbane for long periods of time, after so long, you just need a break. its good to play for a month or two, but after a titanic loss, you gotta find something else and come back to it later.

I like to play it once a year.

You know what, I got an awesome idea! We still got 5 months until AoC comes out so we should get on SB, make a guild, not bother making a city and sell our selves as mercenary band. We affiliate our selves with 1 or 2 guilds who aspire to build their own city and be at their beck and call when it comes to defending or seiging city...for a fee paid to the guild leader and the leader splits it among the players who were there or just holds on to it and finds a way to pay all members who been on line a stipend. But like all mercenary, we go to highest bidder. We make this apparent to our employers so if they wanna keep our loyalty they have to keep the bids higher
Trust me, I played this game and allies are everything in this game...even paid allies. Now there are certain skills if I rember right can only be learened from player city trainers. We can learn those skills from guilds we affiliate our selves with once they get a city. This way we don't have to commit our selves to the idea of building a city with all the politics, stress and still have fun.

I've just perused some game guides. Shadowbane seems to be incredibly complicated! I think I counted 21 classes...made my head spin...

well, I installed, and got it patched, hunted up my username, got set to login.

and apparently my video card is not up to there standards, as it tells me so when I try to login, as an nVidia 8600OC does not meet the minimum system requirements to play Shadowbane now.
