AO for free

Hi Guys,

How did the Free Client of AO work out for you? I'm downloading it myself right now. I was a former open beta AO tester and purchased AO back around 2002 and tried it out for a month.

Maybe i'll bug you Col_Ripper to see how it went.

Also, since there isn't any official TOG AO section. Any TOGers in Anarchy Online presently, if so your welcome to brag or rant about it. :P

New guy here so go easy

I played this in beta and at release and although the last time I played it was just after the alien expansion was released I have to say it is a completely different game now.

I may well have to download it again, though you won't be able to go to the Shadowlands or use any of the stuff contained in the expansions.

All in all well worth a go at as the team missions can be very good fun

For your comments on AO. I was able to retrieve my old account from 2002 and enter the free portion of AO. Which as the Atlatean shard on Tir section block 5 as Atrajo.

I played Ao for a year or so, 205 opi fixer. The lag isnt so bad till you either get 200 and mass pvp or make a twink and mass pvp low lvl.

We have had 150+ people per side in land wars lol it gets laggy..lag was a way to win as long as the server didnt crash. Not sure if they improved it, I left right as AI came out.

Unless they really changed things..for mass pvp (most fun) fixer/agent/doc's/engineers pretty much own. One on One fixer/agent/doc/engie...hmm well they own in both Doc's are just evil 200+. I know they fixed a few things to even out pvp..like fixers/doc's cant use the cater's now (strongest pvp rifle) its now agent only.

The free DL dosent include expansion..they are the gravy to AO, you are severly at a disadvantage without the expansion gear but it is a great way to try the game out.

If they fixed the lag issues, this would be the best game to me, the graphics are amazing, has alot of depth, the pvp is fun but think of 200+ lvls hehe it takes awhile though the lvl go faster than say EQ2 or WoW.

Not a bad game, I enjoyed my time there lag and all.

I have been trying this out with the free download. It seems fairly entertaining although there also seems to be a high proportion of what I call gogokids, i.e. kids that just want to run around, kill everything, die lots and not actually use any form of tactics.

That being said, there also seems to be a reasonable proportion of older players that are quite willing ot take the time to help you learn and understand what is going on while still progressing at a good steady pace that doesn't cost you all your experience points when you die.
