Default Runescape question

I'm not a mmorpg player myself but my daughter has come across the Runescape game. With a basic membership that is free it seems a good introduction into online gaming.

My main concern is regarding security and the types of players she may meet. We've been through the safe internet use and security etc but I was wondering if anyone had any feedback or experience with this game or site.

It's very popular and has a large user base.

That means the chances of meeting anyone weird are larger. But what's a MMORPG without a large player base?

yeah that's fair enough Fox. Just need to instill a sense of safe and fair play and relax those apron strings a little.

My two sons cut their online gaming teeth so to speak on this game several years ago. I had a few sessions of over the shoulder monitoring and what not to say/give out etc., and to date as far as I know they had not had any problems that needed my attention. With that in mind, what Fox said.
They have since moved onto the bigger online games nowadays but go back for a look every now and then.

My son plays this at his other house sometimes.

I'd install it yourself, because otherwise it puts ALOT of spyware and ad stuff on your computer.

Thanks for the heads up re spyware etc. Didn't install it so might have to some PC checks now.

I've been looking over the shoulder for a couple of days now. Seen some inapproriate sexual innuendo once from one user had him added to the ignore list. Today she played again with no problems.

I was talking to my neighbour the other day and they had drinks last Friday with a couple who met whilst playing this game and married. He was from Australia and she was from the US. The weird thing was she left a husband and 3 children to come out here and he left his wife and son. That's a bit sick in my book.

I played this game for a long time with my son the free play is full of nasty little kids .
the members verson is mutch cleaner but is fill of scammers
make sure that your child NEVER gives out any personal info
Be sure to fill out the personal ID section so as not to get the account stolen
I have a lv 85 & a lv 78 char although I havent played for some time
All in all its a fun game and its how I got started gamming by playing with my son

The only online game I play is Runescape. I have a lvl 84 character. I haven't come across any problems from other players.
