Default Gary Gygax: Dead at 69

Gary Gygax, the creator of Dungeons and Dragons has died. He developed the game in 1974. Without Dungeons and Dragons we may not have had out beloved MMO's. Games like EverQuest, World Of Warcraft, and LOTR would not exist online.

I know I heard I'm watching Troll Lords msg boards to see if they post details about the funeral. I'm actually considering going to wherver it is.

I grew up on DnD. Back in high school (before MMOs were a glimmer in anyone's eye, LOL) I played ADnD first edition rules with my taped up books release in the late 70's. Since then I've collected a sizeable bookshelf of old DnD and adnd and now DnD 3.X stuff. :P

I've always taken to heart Gary's dedication to his work, and this news saddens me greatly. Its everyone's time sooner or later, but we're talking about the creator of Pen and Paper roleplaying games here, that has influenced all computer and console roleplaying games. At one point, all games were a rip of the DnD attribute system, until enough diversity crept into CRPGs and MMORPGS. Original EQ felt very DnDish at first. Maybe that's why I loved it so much.
