WoW, EQ2 and L2
Hiya,
I didn't know which forum this should be in so I put it here.
I'm stuck, can't decide whether to dedicate myself to the growth of either the EQ2 TOG or the WoW TOG. Right now I'm playing both and they both have strong and weak points. But the common thread is grouping and face time with guildies.
I started with TOG in Lin2, bad game (IMO) with great guild structure and leadership. Awesome people, wish I could woo them away (yep Zytech this means you).
Then I moved on to EQ2, good game, good guild leadership, kinda weak on guild structure and game mechanics make it hard to group which has lead to people leaving.
Now I've got WoW, still playing EQ2, WoW is a good game, good game mechanics, good guild leadership, hard to group (level ranges) which leads to people being unhappy cause they can't find anyone in their level range to play with.
I'm not a hard core gamer, I play maybe 15-20 hours a week. I don't play for level, I don't play for crafting (though it is fun), I play to meet you folks and have a good time (help folks out, funny discussions in guild chat, some light crafting, adventuring...blah, blah) and I here lies my problem. I know that you can't make all of the people happy all of the time and I know that there are instances where grouping is impossible but what is the solution to the grouping/finding guildies/happiness problem? I think Lin2 had the best solution. Multiple Clans that stuck together and grew together and if a player found himself not able to play for a couple of weeks and got behind in level he would either be helped out or could just shift into another clan where the folks were of his level. Oh sure there was some "oh man, you guys left me behind..." but people seemed to get over it pretty quickly.
Gimme feedback, gimme your thoughts, gimme chocolate.
