DC Universe MMORPG coverage - Comicon 2008

Hey guys.

Interview with gameplay in the background. They discussed some game mechanics (physics engine, action mmorpg where you can dodge, interact with etc), play as villain or friendly. Planning to launch on PS3 and PC, possible they will let both play together but no decision as yet. You have a combat 'loadout' of your abilities (shown were 4 at a time for both PC and PS3 interfaces) which you select from many more that you aquire as you level up. Live events are supposedly a big part with the game running invasions by arch villains upon cities etc. You get to fight alongside or against all the DC universe heroes/villains (both well known, and little known).

I can run up and down the side of a building, throw cars and trap some one in a giant block of ice then throw that block of ice down the street?!..im sold!

hahahah thats one grouping of abilities. I'm not 100% certain but I think it works something like this. You choose your base set (that includes travel powers) in the video they're referred to as a "speedster". You then get to select some sort of power sets which are your fighting abilities (in the movie, ice? cold? frost? something like that). That implies both are seperate and possibly more things to choose from, maybe even particular powers therein but thats just speculation. What other options are there? I'd get inspiration from the comics, you prolly have hulk like leapers, superman type flyers as well. Oooh maybe teleporters! I had fun with that in City of Heroes except I would run out of stamina or whatever it was called too fast haha.
