Anyone still play UO on the free shards? I've rekindled an old flame on a shard called Divinity. Man was I a big UO fan back in the days where MMOs were not all newbified. And you just cant beat skill based gaming. I hate levels!

I would have to inquire in the Office, but as free shards are in violation of the EA ip of UO, I do not think there discussion on these forums is legitimate (see the TOG AUP on pirated software).
Sorry. Feel free to discusss EA endorsed shards as you will. I grew up on UO during the 1st to 3rd age's, back when Lord British was still around and actually could be seen and met in game. After he was forced out and EA entered the scene, and that debacle that was 3rd dawn I never went back. Trammel ruined the fun of UO pvp. But I do agree, a skill set mmo > a level based mmo. I was Diazz of Great Lakes (40xgm) and Pantera of Siege Perilous (15xgm) among others.

Ahh sorry Deadfyre, no abuse of the rules intended. I didn't realise this topic was viewed in the same light as those other things I know are naughty.
![]() I wouldn't know what to say about the legit servers. I haven't been on one of them for many a year. I'd love to discuss this more if possible though, but I'll save any chatter for when I know it's allowed!

No harm or foul at all. I'm not a mod. I do know how they feel on such things though.
Myself, I was never one for private servers. Their is an implied trust that goes with running a game and being a legit admin (even in a non legal way). I had a buddy who frequented free shards, and he was always coming up with trojans and virus's and such. I told him not to trust the admin so much and play from a proxy. I'm not sure if he took my advice or not. As much as I don't like EA, I trust them not to bomb my computer.
