I, like many people, solo my way through most MMOs. I can't help but feel I'm doing it wrong... MMOs have to be more enjoyable while playing with other people.
Would anyone be interested in having a weekly MMO meetup? I think we'd have a rule that you can't advance your character without the group... no questing or grinding. You can always play your main character for that. I'd be interested in trying this with Age of Conan. I just started Requiem: Bloodymare... it would be good if we wanted to do it in a free game. I'd also be willing to go back to EQ2 or City of Villians. Otherwise I might even be willing to buy a new game if I meet likeminded people who are willing to have a weekly group. Have fun out there! |

I could give this a shot. Tried something similar a year or two ago and it was fun for a few months before I had to stop.
We only used specific alts that we kept at the same level, and if we missed a meeting, we caught the character up. So, if we pick a free game or beta, I am interested. (Betas do work well for this concept, though it means the game would have to flip more frequently than it would with a free game.) Anyway, I am interested. I notice you mentioned Tuesday night. That night is tough for me, but Wednesday is ok Later. |

night can be morning for some, after noon for others, early Am for even some more
![]() hmm interesting idea . . . besides free open betas there are a few free games. Most of the games I would like to do this with only have like 1 week trials . . I also not a fan of the Korean free games, Kinda got burnt out playing those. At the moment I can only think of one free game (that is not a Korean MMO) , and that is Anarchy Online. Well Part of it is free. I poke around at MMORPG and see what they have listed as free. As long as I can download it and do not have to show a CC # to have a account, I am gamed for something like this.

Imho, a trial period is a fundamental concept for MMORPGs and a demo for games in general within the digital age. Its the main reason I didn't buy final fantasy online. They had no trial for me to test the waters.

If we can find a good time, we can give this a shot. I might be able to bring someone else along depending on the time.
My suggestion is to start at 6:30 or 7pm Eastern and end by 10pm. 2 1/2 or 3 hours should be a good fix for us on a weeknight. Sadly, due to work, I cannot game later into the evening on weeknights. Assuming we go with a 7pm Eastern start time, start times around the world would be: The Fixed Time World Clock (Obviously, if we started at 6:30 pm Eastern, then all the times would be a half hour earlier.) If that time works (by some miracle) we can move to picking a game. If not, then we can try to iron out the kinks. Imfir, definitely no cc #s. No way. Later. |
