Anyone looking forward to Darkfall?

Is anyone seriously looking at playing Darkfall? I will be playing it and would like to hook up with any who will be trying it, out so we can group up and have some measure of safety in the starter areas.

I'll be trying it but I can't say I'll be a serious player at this stage with WAR. The tards from the forums would need to be a bit further between in game for me to stick at it I think.

I am going to give it a shot as well just to see what they finally did, but like Robert, I expect it to be a very tough place. That can be good or it can get tiresome, we'll just have to see.

well if they deliver on what they said they would, then it will definitely be interesting, just be aware they were talking about full looting of corpses, so whatever you have they can take if they kill you and vice versa.

Do you think ping matters? If all the servers are in EU and NA, how will we compete when combat is similar to a FPS.

I'm going to give it a try, but I have to admit, I do not have a lot of faith that it is going to be anything special. In my opinion, all the hype on their forums is based on wishful thinking and completely ignores the evidence every other MMO has provided.

Me I'll be trying it. I hope it turns out great cause quite frankly War has not delivered and theres no other mmo I can be bothered going back to.

Good to hear some will be trying it. I really don't think it's going to be the gankfest that most people think it will be. Just because it's full loot FFA does not mean that everyone will just go around killing everyone. There are alignments and alignment penalties which are supposedly pretty harsh so killing people of your own race will make you KOS rather quickly.

Also the world is supposed to be about 3-4 times the size of WoW, zoneless and non-instanced so there will be plenty of space for people hide in if they don't want to be harrassed by other players.

As far as gear goes, I've never been one that thinks gear should be all that important in a fight. Player skill should determine that, so gear is just to provide a little damage mitigation that enables you to endure a longer fight. And since everything in the game is craftable, gear won't be that hard to come by. Also, keeping your better stuff banked and only going out in cheap gear will keep your losses to a minimum.

I think ping will only pose a problem for people like me with satellite connections. The game is FPS style but it is not a shooter so anyone with under 250 ping will be on a relatively level playing field. and most of the US/NA players are getting 150-200 ping to Frankfurt which is where the EU servers will be. Because I have satellite, my ping is running about 1600, I'll probably concentrate on crafting and stealthy skills.
