Default A Live Vibrant DC World

I'm sure some of you are aware about dc universe online and i want to hear from all you dc fans what you think so far on soe's development with dc online . For those who haven't been following the development of that game here's a website that has all the latest videos regarding gameplay and interviews .

Gametrailers.com - DC Universe Online: Reviews, Trailers, and Interviews

While Soe has yet to make official forums for the dc ip i recommend those who are interested in this game to visit this fansite DC Universe Online ~Source~ News as it's one of the most heavily active ones to date and not to mention quite a few devs from soe have often visited it .

Please of course leave your feedback and lets get this party started

Thanks for the linky merwood, lot of video's there I hadnt' seen. Haven't been following it as much because I just hadn't seen much for it out yet. Judging from what I've seen today...

* Heroes and Villains are playable
* Classless characters, instead you chose modes (while out of combat)
- Travel modes; Speedster, Acrobat, Flying
- Support; healing abilities
- Defensive; tanking style abilities, reduced damage in/out, some crowd control
- Offensive; max dmg in/out, more offensive abilities
* Characters are tailored by traits, which are spent to make certain character aspects more or less powerful
- things like levels of super strength, melee fighting, ranged, metabolism/healing, etc
* good pvp heroes vs villains, including competing against one another to achieve objectives
- this has the promise of good gameplay, but also of really anoying gameplay if one side outzergs the other (either getting pwned, or boring victories)
* casebook
- Remembers the cases (villains do capers) you've completed (quests, missions, etc)
- Can recomplete cases and try for extra completes, like "finished without being knocked out"
- NPCs who ask for help will act differently if you helped or ignored their last request
* no death, you get knocked out. Can revive a short while later with max health and no endurance (not sure what its called, energy used by powers), can revive npc's around the gameworld to help yourself out in the area

All in all, I'd say it looks like characters powers are less customisable than champions online, but the gameplay sounds potentially alittle more promising, particularly in regards to PvP fans.

Runs screaming... its a Station game oh noes! hahaha

According to this Massively article, expected launch for DC is 2010 (along with The Agency).

DC Universe Online and The Agency get a 2010 release date

Yeah i just read that as well and i think soe is really playing it smart here rather then to try rush the game and we all know how soe has had a bad rep for unfinished products but i seriously think their starting to learn from their mistakes or so i hope

As for the game itself yes the lack of customization is a little concerning , But given the fact that they just announced dcuo for 2010 gives me more hope that they are putting in alot of effort i think that's why they haven't released any info for their character customization for it yet .

As for the pvp i have heard some promiseing things And my personal hope is that they come up with a option for heroes/villains to turn on pvp on and off like possible in wow in some repsects .
I also heard the devs talking about about having possible pvp missions for heroes/villains i think this would be great cause for story telling and roleplaying purposes and can help build vendetta's and rivialries .

As for the graphics i am hopeing that they have alot of cities done particulary metropolis and gotham city but also for trval it be cool to have vehicles and the ability to fly to space for certain missions .

Just call me a huge DC Junkie and i can see alot of potential for this great mmo down the road

i think it's great that they're delaying the game. i hope it means they're putting more time and effort into it, rather than they're way behind schedule.

is the Dev crew for DC online the same crew that they have for EQ2?

EQ2 was really bad at one point and even the devs said they didn't really feel like logging in and playing their characters. it just wasn't fun. They had to do something make the game better and they turned it around really well.

It's one of the very few (if only) MMO's that i have seen that's been revived out of certain death.

if it's the same crew and they learned their lesson there, then i have real hopes for DC online.

SOE has heaps of money to throw around anyway, so even if the game is full of fail, you still know it'll be supported in some form and be on station access for years to come.

seriously waiting to see how they pull this one off
