Default So what MMORPGs are widely frequented by TOG now?

I used to be an avid Dark Age of Camelot player. I loved that game, and had endless fun playing it. Eventually, my Guild kind of dropped out as the bulk of the people playing mustered out.

Overnight, my fun went out the window, and I learned something MMORPG's, which is at least true for me. MMORPG's are all about the friends you have when you play them. An MMORPG without an active guild/corp whatever sucks. I hate solo grinding, I will only do it inbetween groups.

So seriously, what games are in play right now, that have a large player base going every night?

I just joined City of Heroes, but I'm very afraid the low player base is going to be an issue. We will see when I can get into the TOG guild, but I don't want to do a repeat of DAOC where I like hang around forever and get depressed because I never see anyone on anymore.

CoX had an interesting new patch but its community is on the low side, thats not as bad as in some games though with sidekick/exemplaring fortunately, and the game mechanics are often a little easier on needing class balance in groups. I tried catching up with the TOG CoX types but haven't seen any in game yet, seems most have drifted off or just play at bad times for me in Sydney.

New games that have just launched tend to have a good following, at least at first. Warhammer was pretty big but we've lost a few guilds along the way already. You know Warhammer always has lots of people, a good guide for TOG is just to browse through the forums, if there's a few or more guild subforums then there's probably a pretty good chance we're doing ok with groupability.

i hear ya phage i am also a ex daoc player i used to play daoc back in 2004 on merlin hib and played it for 4 years always glad to see a fellow tog member who used to play daoc at some point hehe . And as for what mmo's tog is active is in i have to agree with reoh .

I know that we do have 3 guilds for warhammer one destruction for na servers and a order and another destro guild on the ocenaic servers .as for the other mmo's i would check the mmo tog division . and i feel your pain as i hate to play mmo's and have to quit due not having a guild or a group of tog buddies .

At any rate i was basically getting ready to take a long break from mmo's in general but atm i am playing vanguard atm although we have no tog guilds in vanguard i'm having a blast with the game .

Sorry to go off topic if i have but i hope you find a game that has a healthy tog presence I sure wish we had a tog guild on xeth or sreadon cause i sure miss the tog community

I miss being in a group of a bunch of TOGers as well. Or any solid group of players for that matter. Unfortunately once I got married 2 years ago I sort of lost the ability to play 3 or 4 hours a night and an ungodly amount of hours on the weekends. I just can't keep up with everyone else anymore.

I'll get in good with a group of players, and they'll just continue to outlevel me when various family related events take me away for a day or two. Two nights a week and a chunk of one day on the weekends just isn't enough to keep up with most players unfortunately. If it was I could enforce a "These are my gaming nights, so leave me alone!" type policy.

It's just a bit depressing making friends, then watching them outgrow you and finally leave you in the dust. It happened to me in Vanguard. Then AoC. Then Warhammer. Now I'm just kind of floating around different games waiting for the next best thing that I can join up as a newb with everyone else and then be left in the dust once again.

I agree with the community/guild feeling being integral to playing. Whenever I tell a non-gamer about my "hobby" they think its odd, until I tell them that I play with people and that makes it fun. I personally play WoW on Runetotem. I have also started play EQ2. With both, I'm in TOG guilds and it they are both very helpful and fun to group with. Let me know if you want try WoW, and I'll hook ya up.

All recommendations to play WOW should come with a Surgeon General's health warning.

Well Guild Wars has a pretty big following actually in TOG and if you haven't ever played it, it is surprisingly refreshing. Personally I play AoC more than GW, but it is a good game.

The latest MMO released is Darkfall- albeit its an almost pure pvp game. The interesting thing with Darkfall is that there are no levels- you level up skills. So in that sense you can't be left behind as your mates level beyond you.

Considering Runes of Magic is free I might just have to look you up if I can't get in a group in The Chronicles of Spellborn or City of Heroes. You mentioned you're on the pvp server, Joecool?
