Default EA hands Bioware the reigns to Mythic

In a seriously massive merger, Mythic and Bioware are being join with Bioware in the lead, Mythic's Mark Jacobs has apparently left although the reasons for which were not given I think its pretty obvious.

Kotaku - EA Combines Mythic And BioWare Into A Giant RPG Robot - Bioware
Kotaku - Mythic Employees Surprised By Jacobs' Exit - Mythic

What impacts will this have for Warhammer: Age of Reckoning, or for Star Wars: The Old Republic? Just because these two have merged doesn't necessarily mean that both games will be adopting the strategies of one another, but it doesn't preclude it either.

I quite enjoyed many aspects of Warhammer, and honestly would welcome a few changes that might just lure me back. There's also a bunch of things I would like to see SW:TOR announce that are in Warhammer right now!

My prediction for what it's worth:
EA will bank its money on SW:TOR and WAR will quietly be allowed to dwindle until EA sees no reason for allowing it to continue and then shut it down.
EA will sometime shortly after SW:TOR's release announce its next big MMO project and the cycle will repeat itself - unless SW:TOR becomes the next WoW.
After all, it's EA
Just my 2 pesos worth

Yeah, that sounds like bad news for WAR, not that it was doing that great anyway. WAR did have some very nice features, alas its playability is not quite there. Too bad really, I waited almost 5 years for that game even before Mythic had it.

My bet on SW:TOR is that it is going to be huge. The TOG guild alone will be over a thousand players.

I think WAR still has some hope for the future, it'll be around for a while yet and may see a resurgence if they develop it well. As for SW:TOR its almost a foregone conclusion, you know the launch is going to be massive. So then it all comes down to whether or not they have the features that players want.

For the majority (not everyone's) view, that'll mean a fully featured mmorpg with a developed UI. Something along the lines of what WOW/EQ2 and games since them have normally (but not always) had. Auction Houses, Storage Vaults, and seriously what happened to player housing - I miss it. A UI thats intuitive, helpful, and looks AAA.

After that, well they've definately done well on content from the sounds of things, but whats going on at the end game for pve and pvp? There's still some massive question marks that Biowythic has to account for.

Its going to go one of 2 ways. They will fix what needs fixing and the game will hold on as a niche pvp game. Or it will dwindle and die.

Honestly, War does a million things right but the 100 they do wrong make my hair fall out in frustration.

So how many games now fall under Bioware's mantle?

Star Wars : The Old Republic
Warhammer Online
Mass Effect Series
Dragon Age Origins
Neverwinter Nights Series
Oh and some Sonic DS game?

That's an awful lot of studios under one roof. I have to wonder how far they can stretch that "bioware" magic.
