Default What MMO is out there thats group friendly?

I am looking for an MMO that is group friendly and not a WoW Clone. Is there a game out there now or in the near future?

City of Heroes!

Free 14 day trial: http://www.cityofheroes.com/trial/index.html

Up to 8 in a group, most definitely not a WoW clone, nothing to do at level cap but hunt for badges, but a lot of fun to play casually.

D&D can be very group friendly, but a lot of players play solo for some reason. Most of the higher level content requires a group.

Warhammer is easy to join up with others as it has an open group function, and Public Quests that anyone can jump in.

After that I struggle.

To better tailor my answer to your requirements, can you please elaborate on "group friendly"? All MMO's are group friendly to some degree, but we really need to know what specifically you are after

Well City of Heroes is a good example of group friendly that I am talking about. A game where grouping actually has a benefit other than loot. Dont want to play a game where I spend 90% of my time soloing and only 10% grouping. Any Genre is fine with the exception of EVE lol.

Well if you like fantasy and like and can handle harse pvp then i suggest darkfall online , From what i have heard that game does require you to be grouped alot of the time because it is pure open pvp and requires alot of skill .

But yes to be honest city of heroes is the most group friendly game i know , And it is definetely great for casual play i played it years ago and i had alot of fun but this was way before i met tog lol and by then i was so burnt out , i am really hopeing that dcuo will make it just as group friendly as city of heroes is .

As for upcoming, I would suggest looking into Mortal Online. In a brutal, full PvP, full Loot game, it pays to have friends

For current, WAR as has been suggested has lots of mechanics that aid grouping. Also LOTRO is very group oriented. After the initial book, you cannot finish a chapter without a group, and the TOG kinship is a really great place to be

Just some food for thought.

The other really important bit is having a good player base from TOG and the general MMO community in your time Zone I would think. Maybe Aion would fit the bill in a few months, and the site Flintwick used for his sig quiz, recommends games based on your answers. Maybe get some ideas from there and then post what it recommends here, for less commercial, more informed opinion than the Bartle site.

Just my two moneypennies worth

Its almost impossible not to group in CoH, not that you can't solo just fine, but people are always trying to group with random strangers so even if you know nobody they'll group up to have fun and even help you out. Great community in that game.
