Blizzard - Big trouble in China?

Massively.com are reporting that WoW may be banned from China due to the deal struck between Blizzard and Chinese company NetEase.

Well thats one way to crack down on the gold farmers they wanted to get rid of (with their new laws).

PS, everybody has to hold their breath from now on (its the law) - because people that commit murder also breathe!

WoW China may account for 5 million accounts but the income generated for them for Blizzard is alot less than the rest of WoW's accounts as the subscription cost is alot lower for WoW China. Not to meantion they were also previously spliting the income with The9.

Also this really has nothing to do with gold farmers, since they are playing with WoW NA/EU accounts.

Still Blizzard won't be very happy about the situation.

Let WoW die its peaceful death and china really does not make up that large a sub base anyhow. WoW is on its way out...like all games that old, they just keep throwing content at the people who stay (EQ1 is a perfect example). Wow isn't going away, but a lot of its subscribers are as there are plenty of new games coming that will overshadow WoW.
Never could say I loved WoW, but enjoyed it for a couple years and now I am moving on.

Also it is true that the gold farmers mainly play on US/EU servers....those that arent hacking your accounts that is :P

American who's been in China since 2003 and playing WOW for a couple of years on the Chinese server in Beijing...and I can tell you that the server has been down for more than a few weeks simply because there is no one to play with. It's been down for months...The9 lost the bid to get Wrath of the Lich King and it was more ghost town then server. And even when we get it- it's a watered down version~! It's like waiting in line for 6 hours for fresh lemonade and getting Kool-aid with no sugar instead. A JIP! Frankly I'd much rather be on the American server (then I can actually read the dang game) but I'd really miss all the guys my husband and I play with- we were like a family. Most of the guys in our guild actually came down when our daughter was born. And still we wait in vain!

"Is the WoW China flop about to go worldwide ?" (this is another joke ok ), unless of course it flopped because there was no point farming gold there, other than to train a fresh new batch of gold farmers
