Talking Mortal Online

Hi all!

So, those who are already aware of MO probably already visit the subforum in this section to read my random posts on the topic, therefore this is for the rest of you

Initially, I was excited by the concept of Mortal Online (open sandbox MMO, full fpv, full loot, full freedom), and loved the look of the game. As time has gone on, I have been through a bit of a rollercoaster ride, wondering if they were actually going to deliver what they were promising, being such a small company, and if what they finally deliver would actually fulfill all my desires for a new take on an old kind of MMO (ultima online).

I have to say though, in the last few weeks I have definately been on a steep upwards trend with both my excitement and enjoyment of everything MO, and the respect I have for SV and the guys building this game. The latest newsletter (posted in the MO subforum for those interested) marks another massive leap for this game towards its inevitable and successful release, and I am exstatic.

For those who have gotten a beta place, but got annoyed with earlier beta phases and its issues, I urge you to come back and check out the new client. So much has progressed, and it is so much easier to get online and started.

For those who have checked out MO, but didnt look any deeper due to lack of info, I recommend you start looking again. Ever more info is going to be released on the MO site from now on (as promised in the latest newsletter).

For those who dont know what this Mortal Online thing is that I am harping on about, I definately recommend you check out some info about it. It is defiantely going to be a big deal when it finally releases, and I certainly want to be surrounded by my TOG bretheren when it does

Cheers,

Flint

I couldn't agree more Flintwick. If your earlier experiences put you off, it's time to take another look. We've now got housing in beta and it's definately not a single player effort. I'm really keen to see us get together as a team and seeing what this game has to offer us.

Indeed! And not just any old housing, it is more like the SWG housing system (houses built in the world, customisable etc, joining to form natural towns and such). As well as that, you can add housing "modules" which give you additional functionality... like maybe you want to add a stable to keep your horses in, or a smithy shop to do your crafting, or maybe add a storefront to hawk your wares.

Houses also form the foundation of guild life, requiring one to set up a guild, and being able to upgrade your guild house eventually up to a guild fortress and beyond!

Of course, owning a house isn't easy in MO, all houses are destructable (given enough time and resources put into a seige), can be broken into by theives and whatnot. You can however tame a pet and set it to guard your house, and it also ties into the flagging system so you can freely attack anyone who comes into your home uninvited!

That covers most of the info that is released, but I am sure that however it turns out, it is gonna be awesome
