When I'm not playing my main mmo, I play together with my daughter. We play the first MMO that we both know very well since I played it for years. She is too young to play hardcore though, but she 's happy to share this with me and I have no need to play this hardcore anymore.
I know a few female guildleaders who are very hardcore indeed, and some others who play more casual... I 'd say there 's not that much difference between male and female players when it comes to being hardcore or not.
I am sure though it's not just the girls "getting together", the female hardcore players I knew were all in the top 5% of the servers listings (a lot of f2p mmo's have listings by lvl and pvp score).
Having spend five years in a hardcore guild myself I can see only one difference between female and male players, and that is the lack of communication between men. These guys spend 12 hours a day on teamspeak, but when there was a problem they never talked about it unless I was there to start the discussion.
I was often worried about my guild mates too, when they skipped meals or hardly got any sleep. I guess that was a female thing aswell.
