Lightbulb The tough decisions...

Well, it's come time for me to decide what MMO I'm going to be playing for February... I've got a few choices and I just need to figure out which one it's going to be...
  1. GLOBAL AGENDA
  2. FALLEN EARTH
  3. STAR TREK:ONLINE
For GA, it's completely new to me. I didn't make the beta and I haven't ordered it yet (although if I decide to, I'll do it tonight). I've been craving some FPS love lately and this game looks great in that respect. While FE offers a little of the FPS scratch for my itch, it's painfully slow and is not exactly robust.

FE is a known and appreciated option. I've been branching out lately and I've been having a hard time maintaining interest when I do log. Hard to say if that because I want to try more of these new titles or if it's just me getting bored with it.

ST:O started off badly for me. My initial reaction to it was holy crap this is bad. (I know, it's a beta) However, after the big patch the other night, alot of my complaints had been addressed. The game is far from perfect and having to the tutorial mission one more time may just make me want to kill myself, but I still ended up having a lot of fun after all was said and done.

As I sit here and type this, I think I've started to whittle my options down already. I think I'm going to take Feb off from FE. I may leave the account open, for the time being, but I don't think I'll be logging a whole lot. I'm leaning pretty heavily toward GA at this point.

So what do you think? Care to try and sway toward one side or the other? Give me your thoughts... And yes, I'm

I'm a big GA fan, and if you like TF2 style combat then GA is pretty close to that, but it adds MMO features and with subscription (after the first month), you can engage in territorial world combat which gives your gameplay more meaning than random matches ever can. It won't be starting as a full division here at TOG, but hopefully may evolve into one down the track.

Fallen Earth has a great, tight knit division here at TOG. They're all friendly and helpful, and very active. The game has FPS elements in a more traditional, post-apocalyptic themed MMORPG. Its quite a good game, and was voted at TOG as the best new game last year.

Star Trek Online like Global Agenda is just about to launch. They're just launching with a new division here at TOG and it definately has some nice features like episodic content. Personally I'm not getting this game, having beta tested it. For my tastes, it will always be "not quite the game I wanted." But that is a personal preference thing and there's plenty of others that love it.

GA looks very cool. I am interested in it from two options:

1. It has a strategic overlay which as you says adds a lot to what would otherwise be random games. This really appeals to the wargamer in me;

2. GA apparently offers a free to play and a subscription model. I like this approach as in the future I can see myself jumping between two or three MMO's depending on how I feel. The fact that I can let a subscription slide, but still play (albeit without the strategic element) is a very astute move by Hi-Rez studios.

I've also heard that the GA beta was well-organised and that the game was well-polished. lets hope GA has a smooth launch. If it is a smooth launch, then hopefully the paying public will reward them with plenty of sales and subscriptions.

With the bitter experience of recent tortuous MMO launches, I now take a closer look at the track record of the developer and publisher behind the game.

Good luck with your choice TheDozarian, I hope you do find something that you like

Well, it would appear that my decision has been made for me, in some respects. Took the wife out for dinner last night and she said she had something to tell me. She knew I was going to get a game this weekend... Thing is, she knows I'm a trekkie and I've not mentioned GA to her much...

She pre-ordered ST:O for me. She forwarded me the email with the codes and everything... So I guess I've (we've?) made my decision. So I'll be joining TOG in ST:O for awhile... If it's not everything I want, next month I'll go ahead and pick up GA. One game a month... lolz!

But I guess that's done. Thanks for the opinions, guys! And thanks for encouragement about GA, Reoh!
