Default Mass Effect MMO?

Mass Effect Devs Looking For A Multiplayer Programmer

It seems like this might be the first steps in that direction.... that would be awesome!

Hi Keddle,

It may be more of a potential multiplayer mode to "Mass Effect 3", much like "BioShock 2" recently had in the game. A MMO may be too much of a leap since BioWare is still working on its very first Mmorpg title with the Star Wars franchise.

There is a Mass Effect Movie Deal in the works as reported this past May 24th.

Quote:
Variety says Legendary Pictures has acquired the rights to the franchise with the intention of turning it into a movie with Warner Bros. If you’re a fan of Mass Effect this might seem like a good idea, but to me this project seems like a prime candidate to fall prey to the same thing which has torpedoed nearly every other video game to movie endeavor: It’s all about the user.

It'll just be a multi-player mode.

As has already been said, Bioware are currently making SWTOR, which they've been making for a long time and will continue to. It's looking like it's going to have a long life to it, so I really doubt it. It's the first fully voiced mmo ever, huge amount of story options and content promised. I've got my bets on that it will be a hit.

I wouldnt want a mass effect MMO to be honest the mass effect series is my favorite all time single player games and to be fair an online version of it would most likely spoil the story line unless they came up with a totally new one then it wouldnt be mass effect. As mcgowan has said they are working on starwars TOR and i would hate for them to do a cryptic on us, make two mmo's within 6 months of each other and ruin both in the process.

TOR is set to be the biggest thing since WOW and im sure they dont plan to make any mistakes that the other software companies have made. The Mass Effect series makes a totally awesome single player game, and a multiplayer mode probably woudlnt hurt the game but as an MMO please no dont do it

Many have been dreaming about a "Starcraft Mmo" from Blizzard to no avail. So far Blizzard has been a one trick pony in regards to their hugely popular WoW. (in terms of other Mmo's)

Tisk, tisk, not so. Everquest 2, was the first with fully voiced Npc dialogue for its questing engine. Sony had difficulty with the actors guild in negotiating a contract based on royalties and fee's to the guild and its actors.

Actually the same like SWTOR set in a different era of this space opera from SWG. Could work easily for "Mass Effect" set in a different era of the period from the single player campaigns or potential movie series.

A Mass Effect MMO would spell the end of the ME series, and honestly I think they work better as single player RPGs. There aren't going to be any more KOTOR single player RPGs now that Bioware are doing an MMO for it.

There has also been rumours of BeshSoft (Oblivion, Morrowind, Fallout 3) working on an MMO of some kind which saddens me, I'd hate to see them switch from Single Player RPGs to MMOs. The Single Player RPG has been a dying breed on PC since mainstream surge of MMOs.

Personally I'd love to see Mass Effect/Fallout 3 go to 2-4 player Co-op, but not full MMO. Get the old RPG group thing happening, but without all the MMO persistent world failings.

Oblivion, I don't know, I did feel that needed more and would have felt better as an MMO style.

As for starcraft, if they released World of Starcraft it's possibly one of the few titles I think may be able to assault WOW in terms of players, although seeing as they'd be mainly stealing customers they already had, not likely to happen.

Interested to see what the 40K MMO is going to show us at E3.

Dunno, they may see it as retaining customers...

Yeah, they have to know they can't keep adding to WoW forever.

Blizzard are apparently working on another MMO project, but this is Blizzard we're talking about, they've always done well making their own IPs when it comes to games and they've been doing sequels or different versions for a while now. I wouldn't be surprised to see Blizzard come out with something totally new and fresh for their next MMO.
